Canada qualifies in aquatics

Two sports qualified berths for Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympic Summer Games with the assistance of Saskatchewan athletes.

Diver Rylan Wiens, of Pike Lake, finished fifth overall in the men’s individual 10-metre platform competition at the World Aquatics Championships, which qualifies Canada for a spot in the event at the Games. Who will fill that spot will be determined at a later time.

Additionally, Wiens also earned a qualifying spot for Canada in the men’s synchronized 10-m event with partner Nathan Zsombor-Murray, finishing in fifth. The duo will represent Canada at the Olympics.

Also at the World Aquatics Championships, Regina’s Kenzie Priddell and Saskatoon’s Sydney Carroll competed as part of the Canadian artistic swimming team, finishing seventh in the finals and earning the Canadian squad a spot in Paris. The athletes who will represent Canada at the Games will be announced at a later date.
