Boxer Tammara Thibeault, who calls Regina her hometown, has been named to the Canadian boxing contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This will be the first Games for Thibeault, who will competed in the 75-kilogram, middleweight category. She claimed a silver medal for Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games.
Thibeault found a passion for boxing while living in Regina when her father, Patrick, played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“That’s where I discovered a new passion, boxing,” she write in a CBC Sports Players Own Voice piece earlier this year. “It started out simply as a moment that we kids could have with our father. It was the activity we had with our dad.”
